After you pass through the main English garden, you come across herb and knot gardens, a typical alpine garden, an arboretum, and then when you think you have seen it all you reach the greenhouses. Here, the decided to replicate every (and I mean EVERY in the most detailed Teutonic sense of the word) ecosystem you could find. One greenhouse was solely devoted to water plants. Another area had carnivorous plants, another had only palms and walk on further and you are in the orchid greenhouse. I could have stayed there hours longer, barring the fact that the tropical greenhouses were at 90 F humid tropical temperatures. In addition to all of this, is a hunting forest. The palace also contains a Hall of Beauties, where on display are the portraits of noblewomen and also town’s woman and entertainers. It is homage to those who are beautiful according to the standards of the time and not limited, as many of these collections were, by class. There was far too much to see here in a single day. One day we shall have to return.

Oh my goodness, we are on a train again. Not just any train, this is the ICE 3 – Germany’s answer to the TGV it tops out at 330 km/h (205 mph). Picture the fastest sports car you can imagine doing 100+ MPH on a German Autobahn apparently standing still. That is how it looks when this beast passes it at top speed.

Come back soon, Amsterdam and London galleries in progress!
