Spring!

So Spring is finally here - actually this Winter has been the mildest on record since I moved here, almost no snow and what there was didn't really bother anyone. The only people who lost out were the plough guys who had nothing to do.

Since we couldn't go out we combined Judy's birthday with one of our friends (who just turned 60) and had a party at the house. For once there was almost no snow just a few flakes to keep the legend intact that it ALWAYS snows on her birthday.

As a present I bought a whole pile of art supplies, little did I know how talented she was. Drawing, painting, rune making, muffin baking, always up to something crafty.

We finally got our Norfolk Island flag, somewhere else my ancestors got to first. A bit late this year for their annual "Foundation Day" but we thought it made a nice change from the Irish flag on St Patricks Day our neighbors were flying.

I've decided this year to throw my support behind Gary Johnson the former governor of New Mexico for President. As you'll see below I got to meet him in NYC and I think he would make a great President. In fact I haven't been so moved by the honest sincerity of a politician since early Margaret Thatcher, I was lucky enough to meet her around the time of her first campaign as Prime Minister. Although I wish Gary the best, unless some billionaire appears to fund his campaign it probably isn't happening.

Finally, we had a bit of a power hiccup here at home. The transformer outside our house (which feeds us and two other houses) got overloaded and burnt out, fortunately our utility guys were ready and we now have a new one three times the size, so unless I get yet more computers the neighborhood should be OK for a few years yet.

Spring is here
