April Showers bring May Flowers
As you will see from the pictures below this month we have really been enjoying our beautiful garden. The planting of over 1000 bulbs last fall rewarded us with a spectacular display of hyacinths, tulips and daffodils.
The perennial shrubs continue to do well including the flowering cranberry tree, eastern redbud and the lilac bush.
We also finally replaced the rickety old bench outside the garage with a beautiful new black one, the old one was so unstable we didn't dare sit on it and just used it for parcels. The new one makes a very nice seat and is the perfect place to watch the world go by.
This year we also have our new Square foot vegetable garden, which by growing plants in highly enriched soil and doing careful crop rotation should produce high yields in a very small space which makes it easier to look after.
The pool is opening this Friday (May 20th) - then summer will really be almost here.
